Convicted Felon On Parole Charged With Dealing Heroin In Hudson Valley

A 21-year-old convicted felon who was on parole is behind bars after being busted for dealing drugs, state police said.

Investigators conducted a narcotics investigation which led to the execution of a search warrant at 421 Maple Street in the City of Poughkeepsie on Friday, Feb. 2. The investigation revealed that Michael Sterling, who was reporting to the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, engaged in the sale of heroin on numerous occasions, police said.

State Police Hudson Valley Community Narcotics Enforcement Team and the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department’s Neighborhood Recovery Unit, along with Troop K Uniform Members, arrested Sterling and charged him with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with the intent to sell, also a Class B felony.

Sterling was arraigned before the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

Members of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision also assisted with the investigation.
